If Devdessen Pero had related to each other in friendship and in more like Deva and Varada, two people bound by a clear childhood promise, explicit roles in an unbreakable We Come First rule, their fate could look very different.

So maybe ideally then I'm thinking Davdess would have treated defending Pero's honor as non negotiable as David treats defending Verida instead of prioritizing his family's status and his own wounded pride. Pero like Verida might still have been strategic and aware of consequences, but with a partner who actually shows up she would not need to choose between self respect and love in the same tragic way with those shifts.
